Two views: List and Timeline

At the top right of the schedule you will find a switch with List and Timeline.

• List: one column per field, with the match cards stacked below each other, with breaks and moments (e.g. the prize ceremony) as a bar at their own time in between. Unscheduled matches are not in a column, but in the Not assigned strip above the schedule.
• Timeline: the same columns, but every match is placed at its time along a time axis. Use the Time scale dropdown (60, 30, 15, 10 or 5 min) to zoom in or out. Breaks and moments show up as hatched bands with their name in them.

Your choice is remembered per browser.

The "Not assigned" strip

Above the schedule sits the queue Not assigned: matches that do not have a field yet, for example a card you dragged out of the schedule yourself. The ⇥ Schedule all button on the right of that strip's header gives them all a time and a field in one click, following on at the end of the schedule — whatever is already scheduled stays put. The cards sit side by side there, so the fields themselves keep the full width. In Timeline view it also holds the matches that already have a field but no time yet — without a time there is no spot on the time axis.

• Scheduling: drag a card from the strip onto a field. In List view it takes the time slot of the position where you drop it; on the Timeline the height at which you drop determines the time (in steps of 5 minutes). Field and time are saved immediately.
• Onto a scheduled match: a card from the queue does not swap places, it is simply placed at that time. If that double-books the field, both cards turn red as a conflict.
• Taking it out of the schedule again: drag a scheduled match onto the strip. Its field is cleared, its time is kept. That is why the strip stays visible even when nothing is waiting in it.
• Deleting: the bin icon on a card only works in this strip. As long as the match sits on a field the icon is greyed out — drag it to Not assigned first. That way a scheduled match never disappears from the schedule with a single click.

On a tablet or phone you do not drag: use the time field and the field dropdown on the card in the strip.

Viewing one day at a time

In a multi-day tournament the Show one day list sits at the top of the schedule. Pick a day and the board only shows that day's matches — otherwise every playing day stacks up in the same field column. All days switches the filter off again. The chosen day is carried over into the ↻ Generate / recalculate dialog and into ⇥ Schedule all.

Dragging takes the day into account: a card is only swapped or shifted between matches on the same day, so you never accidentally upset the times of another playing day. ⇥ Close gaps likewise works per field and per day: gaps are closed within a day, but day 2 is never pulled back into day 1. That button first asks which fields should be packed and between which hours, so you can leave the other columns — and the rest of the day — untouched. Still want a match on another day? Use the date field on the card.

Dragging matches

On a PC you simply drag match cards with the mouse. Every move is saved immediately.

• To an empty spot: drag a card to another field or time. In list view the card snaps to the time slot at that position; on the timeline you freely choose the time (in steps of 5 minutes). Drag a card to Not assigned to clear the field.
• Onto another match: if you drop a card on a match that is already scheduled, the schedule asks (in List view) what to do:
  • Insert between — the dragged match takes that time and the other matches on that field shift one time slot down.
  • Move (swap) — the two matches swap places: they exchange their time and field.
  In Timeline view, dropping a card onto another match swaps them.

On a tablet or phone, use the time field, the − and + buttons and the field dropdown on the card.

Conflicts and rest time

When there is a scheduling problem, a warning appears above the board: a field booked twice, a team with two matches at the same time, a match during a break, or a match placed before the result it waits for (a knockout before its pools, a final before the semi-final)… Those cards turn red.

If you fill in Min. rest between matches (min) in the settings (0 = off), matches where a team gets too little recovery turn orange.

Follow a team

Move your mouse over a team name on a card and all matches of that team light up straight away. No click needed to quickly check whether a team has to play twice in a row.

Click the team name and the highlight stays on while you scroll or look elsewhere. Click again to release it. On a tablet or phone, tap the team name.

Locking the schedule

The padlock icon in the settings locks the schedule: all inputs and dragging are disabled, so nothing shifts by accident during the tournament.

Change notifications

While you are building the schedule, you don't want to bother the followed teams with every little shift. That is why notifications are off by default (planning mode) and you decide yourself when to send them.

Where is the switch?

On the Instellingen (settings) tab, at the bottom in the Push notifications for the UwTornooi app block, at Notification on change. In that same block, Reminder before kick-off sets how many minutes before kick-off followers get a notification (0 = no reminder).

• Off (planning mode): you freely move matches around without anyone receiving a notification.
• On: every moved match whose time or field changes is remembered to be notified.

Sending the notification

If the switch is on and you have moved one or more matches, a bar appears at the top of the schedule: "X changed match(es) not yet notified. Do you want to notify the teams involved?"

• Send notification: the followers of both teams receive, per changed match, a push notification with the new time and field.
• Dismiss: the changes are not notified and the list is cleared.

This way you can first drag several matches around and only then notify the teams involved in one go — or not at all. If you switch it off again, the accumulated list is discarded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the List and Timeline views?

Why can I not delete a match?

The bin only works in the Unscheduled strip. As long as the match sits on a pitch the icon stays grey. Drag the card to Unscheduled first and delete it there — that way a scheduled match never disappears from your schedule on one stray click.

How do I move a match on my phone or tablet?

You do not drag there. Use the time field, the − and + buttons and the pitch dropdown on the card itself. Every change is saved immediately, just as with dragging on a computer.

Do teams get a notification every time I move something?

Not by default. Notifications are off in planning mode so you can shift things freely. If you switch them on under Settings > Push notifications > Notify on change, moved matches are collected and a bar appears at the top of the schedule so you decide in one go: send the notification or ignore it.
