A backup is a snapshot of your entire tournament. Create one before a step you are unsure about — regenerating the schedule, reshuffling teams, reworking categories — and you can always go back to how it was.
Open your tournament and go to Settings. At the bottom of that page you will find the Backup & restore block, just above the red zone for deleting your tournament. Click Create backup and give it a name.
Put the reason in that name, for example "before regenerating the schedule". That way you immediately know which one you need later. A name is not required: leave the field empty and the backup is named after the date and time.
Everything attached to your tournament:
In the same list every backup has a Restore button. You get a confirmation first, because everything that changed since that backup will be lost.
After restoring, your tournament is back as it was at the time of the backup: the same participants, the same schedule, the same results and settings.
You do not have to think about it: every night a backup is created automatically for every ongoing tournament. You recognise them in the list by the automatic label.
If nothing changed in your tournament that day, no new one is kept — otherwise you would have the same snapshot ten times over. That way they remain ten real moments to go back to.
Automatic backups are counted separately from your own. A backup you deliberately took before a risky step is therefore never pushed out by them.
A copy is a new, separate tournament with its own address — handy for reusing last year's setup. A backup affects this tournament: you move it back in time, at the same address. To keep a schedule for later reuse, make a copy. To undo a misstep, use a backup.
Ten you create yourself, plus ten nightly ones — two separate series. Create an eleventh backup of your own and only your oldest own backup disappears; the nightly ones stay, and vice versa. You can also remove one yourself with the little bin next to it.
Not directly. If in doubt, first create a backup of the current state and only then restore the older one — that way you can still go both ways.
Yes. The files your tournament refers to — attachments, team logos, sponsor logos and your own logo — are stored along with the backup. If a file was deleted in the meantime, it is put back during the restore.
No. Once the end date has passed the tournament is locked and nothing can be changed anymore — not even through a backup. The Backup & restore block then disappears from the page.
Only the organiser, meaning the owner of the tournament. Co-managers do not see this block, just as they cannot delete a tournament.
