Maximum number of teams

In the dashboard, Registrations tab, the Maximum number of registrations field sets a hard cap on the total number of registrations. Once that number is reached, the registration form closes automatically and visitors see the message Full. If you leave the field empty or at 0, there is no global limit.

Per-category limits

If you use several categories (levels), you can also set a limit per category under Maximum per category. A category that is full can no longer be selected in the registration form.

How the two work together

The global maximum and the per-category limits are two separate boundaries. The global maximum counts all registrations together, across every category, and always remains the hard cap.

• Global maximum only (e.g. 16): no more than 16 teams in total can register, regardless of category.
• Per category only (e.g. 2 categories of 16): each category fills up to 16, so up to 32 in total. There is then no global cap.
• Both: the global maximum always wins. With a global of 16 and each category at 16, still only 16 teams in total get in, allocated in order of registration.

Example: a guaranteed split

Want exactly 8 teams per category across 2 categories? Set each category to 8. The sum (16) then also becomes your total. If you set each category to 16 and the global to 16, the cap is 16, but one category could in theory take all the places.

Note

If the sum of your per-category limits exceeds the global maximum, or that global maximum is missing, the dashboard warns you. This way, no more teams ever register than you intended.

A cap that is lower than the number already registered is refused. Neither the global maximum nor a per-category maximum can drop below the current number: you get a red error message showing how many are already in, and the setting is not saved. Next to every field you can see how many participants there are right now, so the floor is immediately clear. Counted are the teams already listed plus the registrations still awaiting approval. To go lower, first remove participants or pending registrations in the Participants or Registrations tab.
